Job Title: Civil Engineer
Job Summary
A Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, water supply systems, and other public works. The role involves ensuring projects are safe, sustainable, and completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop infrastructure projects (roads, highways, bridges, dams, buildings, drainage systems, etc.)
- Prepare engineering drawings, plans, and specifications using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD Pro)
- Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies
- Perform structural analysis and calculations
- Manage and supervise construction activities on-site
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations
- Estimate project costs and prepare budgets
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and government authorities
- Monitor project progress and prepare reports
- Inspect and evaluate existing structures for safety and durability
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred, depending on country)
- Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials
- Proficiency in engineering design software
- Understanding of local building codes and regulations
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and project management abilities
Work Environment
- Office-based design work
- On-site construction supervision
- Possible travel to project locations
