Guardian is seeking a Lead Engineer with strong React and JavaScript expertise to design, develop, and support scalable, secure, and high‑quality web applications supporting Guardian’s digital platforms.

Design and develop responsive web applications using React, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS

Build reusable UI components and ensure alignment with UX/design standards

Integrate front‑end applications with REST APIs

Ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and adherence to Guardian engineering standards

Collaborate with Product, UX, Backend, QA, and DevOps teams in an Agile environment

Troubleshoot, debug, and support production issues with strong ownership

5–8 years of experience in web application development

Strong hands‑on experience with React.js and modern JavaScript

Solid understanding of responsive design, browser compatibility, and performance optimization

Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum delivery

Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills

Experience with TypeScript and enterprise UI/design systems
-
Exposure to regulated domains such as insurance or financial services
