Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Network Engineer for our headquarters in Boca Raton, FL. This new hire will be part of a growing IT Team, and play a key role in planning, designing, architecting, and supporting the internal networking infrastructure for a prestigious legal group with a rapidly expanding national footprint. This also includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links.
Our new hire will also support engineering projects, assist with planning technology road maps, and review services and/or technology offerings that may benefit the organization. This is a critical IT Infrastructure function, so the candidate must be familiar with Cisco networking, security, wireless, WAN technologies and Data Center infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, ISP circuits, and any network-based service and security infrastructures.
- Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration and other appropriate use(s)
- Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all network infrastructure implementations, changes, and troubleshooting.
- Establish best practices and policies for installing configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Work closely with key business stakeholders and the IT teams to plan and communicate IT service changes. Participate in required change management procedures and processes.
- Identify/recommend infrastructure upgrades and improvements based upon industry best practices and the Cisco Lifecycle Services Approach
- Manage vendors for WAN circuits and security services.
- Assist with configuration, management and monitoring of voice and data devices.
- Ensure that the performance and availability of the data and/or voice infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards to achieve maximum productivity.
- Conduct testing and development disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions and backup systems.
Other Duties
- Participate in 24/7 support and on-call rotation, including incident management duties.
- Participate in issue resolution of escalated issues and communicate effectively to promote knowledge transfer and team effectiveness.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Fortinet firewalls, switches, and wireless access points + experience with Fortinet management software (FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager)
- Minimum of 3 years’ hands on experience using Cisco Nexus platform for core LAN switching infrastructure
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience designing, implementing, upgrading, and supporting Cisco networking and security infrastructure
- VolP design and deployment for LAN and WAN including experience in QoS.
- Proven troubleshooting skills (LAN/WAN, Internet, packet capture utilities (e.g. Wireshark), servers, clients, and applications
- Strong experience with wireless technologies, including wireless access points, wireless protocols, security, and wireless LAN controllers.
- Strong understanding of WAN circuits and protocols (MPLS, AVPN, TDM) and Dynamic IP Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
- Strong background with network management tools
- Experience with network security solutions / services including Forti-Gate IPS, FIM, DDoS, Web blocker, Application Filtering
- 3 years’ experience proven proficiency documenting networks and infrastructure (Vizio Network Architecture documentation)
- Cloud Infrastructure – proficiency in AWS or Azure; Solar Winds experience is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all stakeholders, as well as relay complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience, including senior leadership.
- Project management experience with strong analytical skills
- ITIL certification
- Cisco Certifications are strongly desired (CCDP/CCNP experience is required)
- Windows Certifications VCP, MCSA, MCTS or MCSE certifications
- Knowledge and understanding of enterprise-class solutions in networking such as Cisco Nexus, 6500, Routing and Switching, and Forti-Gate Firewalls.
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and execute tasks successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of cabling and wiring systems, design, and installation.
- Operational experience within a PCI-DSS environment
Education
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
