Summary:
A seasoned Linux Infrastructure Lead/Architect with 8+ years of enterprise experience, providing strategic technical leadership across L2 and L3 operations. This role is accountable for the overall health, architecture, security, and evolution of the Linux infrastructure landscape. The incumbent will drive cloud-native and hybrid cloud strategies, establish governance frameworks, and serve as the primary technical authority for Linux platforms within the organisation.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Architecture
- Define and own the Linux infrastructure architecture strategy aligned with business and IT objectives.
- Design scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant Linux environments across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud landscapes.
- Lead proof-of-concepts, and technology evaluations.
- Drive platform modernisation initiatives including containerisation, immutable infrastructure, and cloud-native operations.
- Participate in Linux infrastructure roadmap discussion and present constructive suggestions to stakeholders.
- L3 Expert Operations
- Serve as the ultimate technical escalation authority for critical P1/P2 Linux incidents.
- Lead major incident bridges coordinate resolution across teams and vendors.
- Perform forensic analysis of complex failures spanning kernel, storage, network, and security layers.
- Define RCA standards ensure systemic issues are addressed through architectural improvements.
- Own disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution for Linux infrastructure.
- Establish capacity planning models and enforce SLA/OLA commitments.
- Red Hat Ecosystem – Expert Level
- Govern the enterprise RHEL lifecycle management strategy using Red Hat Satellite.
- Lead large-scale RHEL migrations, version upgrades (in-place and greenfield), and standardisation projects.
- Design and operate multi-site RHEL HA clusters and geo-redundant configurations.
- Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure – AWS Expert
- Architect AWS landing zones and account structures for Linux workloads.
- Design multi-region and multi-AZ deployments implement DR on AWS using Route 53, RDS, and replication.
- Govern AWS IAM at enterprise scale: SCPs, permission boundaries, and federated access.
- Lead cloud cost governance: Savings Plans, reserved capacity, and cost allocation strategies.
- Well versed in AWS compliance-driven Linux operations.
- Evaluate and adopt AWS-native services to reduce infrastructure management overhead.
- Automation, DevOps & SRE Practices
- Establish and manage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) framework using Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
- Manage CI/CD pipeline driven infrastructure code deployments
- Exposure to SRE practices will be a plus. SLOs, error budgets, toil reduction, and chaos engineering.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging automation tools (event-driven automation, AIOps).
- Drive integration between ITSM, monitoring, and automation for self-healing infrastructure.
- People, Process & Governance
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Linux administrators.
- Define hiring criteria, conduct technical interviews, and contribute to workforce planning.
- Establish operational governance: change management, CMDB accuracy, and compliance reporting.
- Own vendor management for infrastructure tooling and managed service providers.
- Represent the Linux infrastructure team in architectural review boards, audits, and steering committees.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS (MANDATORY / STRONGLY PREFERRED)
- RHCSA + RHCE – required
- RHCA (Red Hat Certified Architect) – strongly preferred
- Red Hat Specialist certifications (e.g., RHCS in High Availability, Ansible Automation) – desirable
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional – required or to be achieved within 6 months
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional – desirable
- ITIL v4 Foundation – desirable
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Linux Architecture.
- Strong knowledge of system administration and troubleshooting within Linux environments.
- Experience in managing and implementing Requests for Change to support system upgrades and maintenance.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Familiarity with incident and problem management processes to ensure operational stability.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with vendors and cross-functional teams.
