Join us as a User Experience Engineer in our Product Team to get the opportunity to do the best work of your career and make a profound impact in our journey of enabling retail in India.
What You'll Achieve:
We are looking for a rare hybrid — a designer who builds. At Ginesys, Product Managers define what features go into the product — the constraints, the user personas, the outcomes required — and hand over PRDs. Backend engineering teams build the APIs and endpoints that become available. As a User Experience Engineer, you take it from there: working within this brief and these constraints (and conducting further discovery where needed), you will define the best possible user experience, design it — screens, workflows, interactions — and then build the frontend for it yourself. You will not hand off static mockups and wait; you will bring your designs to life using Next.js / React, working hands-on with AI coding agents like Claude Code and Codex to move from PRD to interactive product at speed.
Your work will directly shape how thousands of retailers across India experience our products every day — on desktop, on mobile, and at every touch point in between.
You will:
Design the Experience
- Take PRDs from Product Managers — features, constraints, user personas, and required outcomes — and translate them into the best possible user experience: screens, workflows, navigation, interactions, and micro-details across desktop, mobile, and other touch points.
- Design intuitive, elegant user journeys that minimize friction for the personas defined in the PRD (store staff, back-office teams, business owners), while working within the product and technical constraints given.
- Conduct further discovery where the PRD leaves gaps — probing user needs, edge cases, and workflow realities before committing to a design direction.
- Define information architecture, layout systems, and interaction patterns that scale consistently across the product suite.
- Build and maintain a coherent design language / component system so the product feels unified everywhere.
- Rapidly sketch, wireframe, and prototype multiple options; make deliberate design decisions and articulate the "why" behind them.
- Incorporate usability feedback, analytics, and customer input to continuously refine experiences after launch.
Build the Experience
Develop working, clickable versions of the features you design using Next.js / React — not throwaway prototypes, but front-end code that engineering can build on.- Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, and similar tools) as a force multiplier to go from design to functioning UI dramatically faster than traditional workflows.
- Implement responsive, performant, and accessible front-end interfaces that work well across devices and screen sizes.
- Build the frontend against the APIs and endpoints made available by backend engineering teams — understanding what's available, integrating with real data, and flagging gaps where the experience needs more than the API currently offers.
- Iterate quickly: ship, gather feedback, refine — treating the working product itself as your design canvas.
Collaborate & Influence
* Partner with Product Managers: they define *what* gets built and why; you own *how* it should work and feel — bringing a strong user-experience point of view and pushing back with evidence when a better experience is possible within the constraints.
- Work closely with backend engineering teams to ensure design intent survives all the way to production, and to shape API contracts where the experience demands it.
- Champion user-centred thinking across the organization and raise the bar for experience quality in everything we ship.
Take the first step towards your dream career:
Every Ginesys team member brings something unique to the table. Here's what we are looking for with this role:
Essential Requirements
3–5 years of combined experience in UX/UI design and front-end development (or a demonstrably strong portfolio that proves both, regardless of years).- A great sense for user experience: a portfolio showing real products or features you have designed — screens, flows, and interaction details — with clear reasoning behind your decisions.
- Practical, hands-on experience building front-ends with React (Next.js strongly preferred): components, state management, routing, API integration.
- Working proficiency with AI coding agents / assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) and a genuine enthusiasm for AI-accelerated development workflows.
- Strong command of HTML, CSS (including modern layout — Flexbox/Grid), and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience designing for both desktop and mobile, including responsive and adaptive patterns.
- Ability to move fast and independently — from a PRD to a designed, clickable, working feature with minimal hand-holding, conducting your own discovery where needed.
Desirable Requirements
Experience designing for B2B SaaS, ERP, POS, or other data-dense enterprise/retail products.- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma and with translating designs into component libraries (e.g., Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Material UI, or a custom design system).
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and performance best practices for web applications.
- Exposure to usability testing, user research, or analytics-driven design iteration.
- Experience working with retail users or domain knowledge of retail operations in India.
Who you are:
A builder-designer who is equally at home in Figma and in a code editor — and happiest when the two are the same thing.- Someone who judges their work by how it feels to use, not how it looks in a mockup.
- Pragmatic and fast, with high standards — you'd rather ship a working v1 this week and improve it than perfect a static design for a month.
- Curious about new tools, especially AI-assisted development, and eager to push what one person can build.
Ginesys is India's leading omniretail tech platform, powering retail businesses across the country with integrated ERP, POS, and e-commerce solutions. Join us and help define how the next generation of Indian retail runs.
Application: Please share your portfolio and, if possible, links to live products or prototypes you have designed and built yourself.
