Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe zOS L3 Administrator to manage and support enterprise mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in z/OS system administration, GDPS/Sysplex environments, system upgrades, automation, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and production support. The role requires ownership of mainframe service delivery, incident resolution, and infrastructure stability while ensuring adherence to SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain IBM Mainframe zOS environments.
- Manage GDPS and Parallel Sysplex setup, configuration, and maintenance.
- Perform IPL/POR activities and support system automation initiatives.
- Handle installation, maintenance, upgrades, and migration of z/OS and associated products.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, capacity utilization, and resource consumption.
- Manage RACF security administration and privilege audits.
- Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and DR drill execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex L3 production issues and critical escalations.
- Maintain system availability and ensure compliance with service-level agreements.
- Work closely with customers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, and standards.
- Support ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects, upgrades, and transition activities.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in zOS System Administration.
- Experience with GDPS / Parallel Sysplex Setup and Maintenance.
- Expertise in IPL / POR Procedures and Mainframe Automation.
- Strong knowledge of JES2, TSO/ISPF, DFSMS, VTAM, SMP/E, HMC, and HCD.
- Hands-on experience with RACF Administration and Security Auditing.
- Strong scripting skills in REXX, CLIST, and JCL.
- Experience in Mainframe Capacity Planning and Performance Tuning.
- Expertise in Disaster Recovery Setup and DR Drill Execution.
- Experience with Mainframe Migration, Version Upgrades, and Maintenance Activities.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience handling critical production incidents and escalations.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of ACF2 security administration.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON, MainView, and SysView.
- Experience in DASD storage management and DFHSM.
- Experience in MIPS optimization, software rationalization, and specialty engines.
