Job Title: Commis I/ Commis II/ Commis III
Job Summary
The Commis Chef is responsible for independently preparing and cooking food within the assigned kitchen section while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation. The role also supports the Chef de Partie in supervising junior kitchen staff.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to standard recipes and quality standards.
Manage daily operations of the assigned kitchen section in the absence of the Chef de Partie.
Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation.
Monitor inventory and assist with stock control and requisitions.
Train and mentor Commis II and Commis III team members.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
Minimize food wastage and maintain portion control.
Ensure kitchen equipment is used and maintained properly.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
Qualifications
Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts or Hotel Management preferred.
2–5 years of relevant kitchen experience.
Skills Required
Strong culinary knowledge and cooking skills.
Leadership and mentoring ability.
Excellent time management.
Attention to detail.
Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
