An Electrical Engineer (MEP) is responsible for designing, planning, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The role ensures that all electrical installations comply with applicable codes, standards, safety regulations, and project specifications while coordinating with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and structural teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and low-voltage systems.
- Prepare electrical drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Perform electrical load calculations and equipment sizing.
- Coordinate MEP services with architects, structural engineers, and contractors.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents.
- Supervise electrical installation work at construction sites.
- Ensure compliance with local electrical codes, safety regulations, and project standards.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Monitor project progress, quality, and schedules.
- Resolve technical issues during design and construction.
- Prepare project reports, as-built drawings, and maintenance documentation.
- Support project cost estimation, budgeting, and procurement activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 2–8 years of experience in MEP design or construction (depending on the role level).
- Knowledge of electrical design standards and building codes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, ETAP, Dialux, or similar engineering software.
- Strong understanding of power systems, lighting design, fire alarm, ELV, and earthing systems.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with BIM coordination.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient building systems.
- Familiarity with HVAC electrical requirements and generator/UPS systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Professional certification or engineering license is an advantage.
Work Environment:
- Office-based design work combined with regular site inspections.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
- May require travel to project sites and occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
