Role Summary The worker will support shop floor operations including material handling, gas cutting of raw materials, and basic maintenance activities. The role requires physical work, attention to safety, and coordination with supervisors to ensure smooth production flow. Key Responsibilities 1. Material Handling Load, unload, and move raw materials (plates, bars, cylinders) within the shop floor Assist in shifting materials between cutting, machining, and welding areas Ensure proper stacking and storage of materials to avoid damage Support crane/hoist operations (if trained) 2. Gas Cutting Operations Perform gas cutting (oxy-fuel cutting) as per given dimensions Mark and prepare materials before cutting Ensure cutting accuracy and minimal wastage Maintain gas cutting equipment and report issues Follow safety practices while handling oxygen and LPG/acetylene 3. Basic Maintenance Assist in routine maintenance of machines and equipment Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and upkeep of tools Report breakdowns or abnormal machine conditions to supervisor Support maintenance team during repairs 4. Housekeeping & Safety Maintain cleanliness of work area Follow all safety guidelines and use PPE (gloves, helmet, goggles, shoes) Avoid unsafe practices and report hazards Ensure proper handling of tools and equipment 5. Support to Production Assist operators, welders, and fitters as required Ensure timely availability of materials at workstations Help in reducing delays in production
