Project Manager – Civil Finishing & Interior Furnishing Projects

Purpose of the Position
To plan, coordinate, execute, monitor, and successfully deliver civil finishing, interior fit-out, furnishing, renovation, refurbishment, and turnkey infrastructure projects within approved timelines, budgets, quality standards, and safety requirements while coordinating multiple stakeholders including clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Execution
- Prepare detailed project execution plans, schedules, milestones, and resource allocation plans.
- Develop work breakdown structures (WBS) and project timelines using project management tools.
- Coordinate all civil finishing and furnishing activities from site handover to project completion.
- Monitor project progress against baseline schedules and take corrective actions to prevent delays.
- Ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
2. Civil Finishing Works Management
Manage and supervise execution of:
- Flooring works (marble, granite, vitrified tiles, wooden flooring, carpet, vinyl flooring, etc.).
- Wall finishes and cladding.
- Painting and polishing works.
- False ceiling works.
- Partition systems.
- Waterproofing and repair works.
- Doors, windows, glazing, and hardware installation.
- External finishing and façade-related works.
- Architectural restoration and heritage-sensitive finishing works where applicable.
3. Interior Furnishing & Fit-Out Management
Coordinate and supervise:
- Modular furniture installation.
- Loose furniture procurement and deployment.
- Joinery and carpentry works.
- Custom furniture fabrication.
- Upholstery and furnishing materials.
- Curtains, blinds, and decorative finishes.
- Signage and wayfinding systems.
- Interior décor and aesthetic enhancements.
4. Vendor & Contractor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard contractors and suppliers.
- Conduct technical and commercial evaluations.
- Negotiate contracts, work orders, and procurement packages.
- Monitor contractor productivity and compliance.
- Verify measurements, bills, and work completion certificates.
- Ensure timely procurement and material availability.
5. Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Implement project quality plans and inspection procedures.
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality audits.
- Review mock-ups and sample approvals.
- Maintain snag lists and monitor closure of defects.
- Ensure delivery of projects with minimum punch points.
6. Cost Control & Budget Management
- Prepare project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Track actual expenditure against approved budgets.
- Review contractor bills and measurement sheets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Monitor project profitability and financial performance.
- Manage variations, change orders, and claims.
7. Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with clients, architects, consultants, PMC teams, government authorities, and internal departments.
- Conduct project review meetings and progress presentations.
- Coordinate design clarifications and site instructions.
- Ensure timely approvals and decision-making.
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation, drawings, approvals, and records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Track risks, issues, delays, and mitigation measures.
- Maintain project dashboards and MIS reports.
- Manage project closeout documentation.
9. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and site safety plans.
- Conduct safety inspections and toolbox talks.
- Ensure contractor compliance with statutory requirements.
- Promote safe work practices across all project activities.
10. Project Handover & Defect Liability Management
- Coordinate testing, inspections, and final acceptance.
- Prepare snag and punch lists.
- Manage project handover documentation.
- Coordinate defect rectification during warranty and defect liability periods.
- Ensure client satisfaction and successful project closure.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or related discipline.
- MBA (Projects/Operations) preferred.
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
- PMP – Project Management Professional.
- PRINCE2 Practitioner.
- PMI-ACP.
- Certified Construction Project Manager (CCPM).
- Lean Construction Certification.
Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in civil finishing, interior fit-outs, furnishing, renovation, refurbishment, commercial interiors, institutional buildings, hospitality projects, government infrastructure, or corporate facilities.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in heritage buildings, public infrastructure, legislative buildings, railways, airports, hospitals, universities, or government projects will be an advantage.
