Job Title: VMC Operator
Location: XLNT Technology, Talawade, Pune
Department: Production / Manufacturing
Reports To: Production Engineer / Production Supervisor
Role Overview
The VMC Operator is responsible for operating Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines efficiently and safely to achieve daily production targets with required quality standards. The role involves machine operation, component loading/unloading, basic inspection, tool monitoring, and maintaining shop floor discipline.
Key Responsibilities
1. VMC Machine Operation
- Operate 4-axis VMC machines as per production plan.
- Load and unload components correctly using proper clamping methods.
- Run approved programs according to setup sheets and work instructions.
- Ensure continuous machine operation with minimum idle time.
2. Production & Target Achievement
- Achieve daily production targets as assigned.
- Maintain required cycle time during production.
- Minimize machine stoppage and material wastage.
- Ensure smooth production flow during shift.
3. Quality Inspection
- Check dimensions using:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Bore Gauge
- Thread Gauges
- Ensure parts meet drawing specifications and tolerances.
- Identify dimensional variation, burrs, surface defects, or abnormalities.
- Inform Quality/Production Engineer immediately in case of issues.
4. Tool & Machine Monitoring
- Monitor tool wear and tool condition continuously.
- Inform setter/programmer for tool replacement when required.
- Ensure coolant level and chip cleaning are maintained properly.
- Follow machine operating instructions and preventive care practices.
5. Setup Support
- Assist setter/programmer during setup and prove-out activities.
- Verify fixture clamping and workpiece positioning.
- Ensure correct tool and program selection before machining.
6. Safety & 5S
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness around machine and work area.
- Follow 5S standards and proper material handling practices.
- Ensure safe handling of tools, fixtures, and components.
7. Basic Troubleshooting
- Identify basic machine issues such as:
- Tool breakage
- Vibration/chatter
- Improper clamping
- Program alarms
- Coolant flow issues
- Escalate issues immediately to concerned engineer/setter.

Experience & Qualification
- BE / ME / B.TECH / M.ETCH / Diploma in Mechanical field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in VMC machine operation preferred.
- Experience on 3-axis & 4-axis VMC machines preferred.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
