Project: Development of a new behavioural assessment instrument
Role Purpose
Strengthscape is looking for an experienced psychometrician to independently lead the scientific design, item development, review, pilot testing, and validation-readiness of a new behavioural assessment. The role requires strong assessment-development expertise, ethical judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while collaborating with the internal leadership and product team.
Key Responsibilities
The psychometrician will be responsible for:
- Defining the assessment construct framework, dimensions, sub-dimensions, and measurement boundaries.
- Developing original assessment items without copying or adapting proprietary instruments.
- Creating item metadata, response scales, scoring logic, interpretation rules, and report logic.
- Reviewing items for clarity, bias, cultural relevance, sensitivity, and psychometric soundness.
- Designing pilot testing protocols, participant criteria, consent process, and data collection structure.
- Conducting or guiding item analysis, reliability review, validity evidence planning, and scale refinement.
- Preparing technical documentation, validation notes, item review logs, and evidence dossiers.
- Advising on ethical use, claim boundaries, non-diagnostic language, and assessment safety.
- Working independently to create high-quality outputs within agreed timelines.
Required Experience
- 4-10+ years of experience in psychometric assessment development, behavioural assessment, psychological testing, or organizational assessment.
- Prior experience creating or validating assessment instruments.
- Strong understanding of reliability, validity, item analysis, factor structure, response scale design, and pilot testing.
- Ability to work with tools such as SPSS, R, JASP, Jamovi, Excel/Google Sheets, or equivalent statistical platforms.
- Experience in leadership, behavioural, personality, relationship, coaching, or organizational assessments will be preferred.
Required Qualifications / Certifications
- Master’s or PhD in Psychology, Psychometrics, Organizational Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a related field.
- Formal certification or demonstrable training in psychometric testing, test development, or test use.
- BPS Test User qualifications, Level A/Level B equivalent, EFPA, ITC-aligned training, or similar credentials will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ethical assessment standards and responsible test use.
