Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Accounts Manager who can independently manage accounting, financial closing, statutory compliance, import accounting, inventory reconciliation, MIS and financial controls.
The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of accounting and should be capable of independently reviewing and finalizing books of accounts while coordinating with internal departments, auditors, banks and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Finalization
· Independently handle monthly and annual closing of books of accounts.
· Complete Balance Sheet finalization with proper schedules and supporting reconciliations.
· Prepare and review:
o Profit & Loss Account
o Balance Sheet
o Trial Balance
o General Ledger
o Provision and adjustment entries
· Conduct regular ledger scrutiny and ensure timely correction of accounting discrepancies.
· Ensure proper accounting treatment and documentation for all transactions.
2. Import Accounting & Landed Cost
· Handle accounting related to import purchases and overseas suppliers.
· Verify and account for:
o Purchase invoices
o Customs Duty
o CHA/CFS expenses
o Ocean/Air freight
o Transportation
o Detention/Demurrage
o Clearing and other import-related expenses
· Prepare and review shipment/container-wise landed cost.
· Reconcile overseas supplier advances and outstanding balances.
· Account for foreign exchange differences wherever applicable.
· Coordinate documentation and accounting relating to BOE, import remittances and IDPMS/banking requirements.
3. Inventory & Stock Accounting
· Ensure periodic reconciliation between physical stock and system stock.
· Review branch/location-wise inventory balances.
· Monitor and account for:
o Shortages
o Damages
o Wastage
o Quality claims
o Stock write-offs
o Purchase/Sales returns
· Review inventory valuation and ensure correct accounting of stock adjustments.
· Coordinate with Operations, Purchase, Import and Sales teams for inventory-related discrepancies.
4. Accounts Receivable & Credit Control
· Review customer outstanding and ageing reports regularly.
· Monitor overdue receivables and coordinate with Sales teams for collections.
· Ensure timely allocation and reconciliation of customer receipts.
· Review customer ledger differences, debit notes and credit notes.
· Monitor long-outstanding balances and highlight high-risk cases to management.
5. Accounts Payable
· Review vendor invoices and ensure proper accounting and approvals.
· Reconcile vendor ledgers and advances.
· Monitor due dates and prepare payment schedules.
· Ensure proper adjustment of debit notes, credit notes, claims and advances.
6. TDS & Statutory Compliance
Candidate should have strong end-to-end knowledge of TDS, including:
· TDS applicability and calculation
· Deduction and deposit
· Ledger reconciliation
· Return filing
· Correction returns
· TDS certificates
· TDS notices/reconciliation, wherever applicable
Should also have working knowledge of other applicable statutory compliances.
Since the Company’s core business transactions are GST-exempt, extensive GST return-filing experience is not mandatory; however, the candidate should have sufficient GST knowledge to review vendor invoices, applicability, RCM and other relevant compliance matters.
7. MIS & Management Reporting
Prepare and present periodic MIS, including:
· Sales and Gross Margin analysis
· Customer ageing
· Vendor ageing
· Cash Flow
· Inventory reports
· Product/category-wise profitability
· Branch/location-wise performance
· Import landed-cost analysis
· Expense analysis
· Budget vs Actual, wherever applicable
Candidate should be capable of identifying unusual trends and presenting key observations to management.
8. Banking & Reconciliation
· Perform and review Bank Reconciliations.
· Coordinate with banks for routine banking and import-related matters.
· Monitor advances, remittances and banking entries.
· Ensure timely reconciliation of bank-related accounting differences.
9. Audit & Internal Controls
· Handle and coordinate:
o Statutory Audit
o Internal Audit
o Tax Audit
o Management/Internal reviews
· Prepare audit schedules and provide supporting documents.
· Identify control gaps and recommend corrective actions.
· Develop and strengthen accounting processes and SOPs.
10. ERP & Systems
· Strong working knowledge of accounting/ERP systems.
· Experience in Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central 365 will be a strong advantage.
· Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, Lookup functions, reconciliation and MIS preparation.
· Ensure accounting data is properly maintained in ERP rather than relying on manual/offline records.
11. Team Management & Coordination
· Supervise and review the work of the Accounts team.
· Allocate responsibilities and monitor timely completion.
· Ensure proper coordination between Accounts, Imports, Purchase, Sales, Operations and Management.
· Maintain clear communication and ensure accounting issues are closed within defined timelines.
· Train junior team members and improve the overall accuracy and efficiency of the department.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should:
· Have 6–10 years of relevant Accounts & Finance experience.
· Have at least 2–3 years of independent experience in Balance Sheet finalization.
· Be capable of handling accounting activities with minimal supervision.
· Have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
· Be comfortable working with large transaction volumes.
· Be proactive in identifying discrepancies and closing pending issues.
· Have good communication and interdepartmental coordination skills.
· Be capable of working under deadlines and taking complete ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates having previous experience in:
· Import / Export companies
· Fresh Fruit / Fresh Produce industry
· FMCG / Food Distribution
· Trading & Distribution businesses
· Inventory-intensive businesses
· Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central 365
