Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
The role is for a Manager with the responsibility Front axle, Rear axle, Wheel end and Other vehicle parts systems deliverables and to provide cross functional leadership in the development of the wider Chassis &system department.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the day-to-day management of the Front axle, Rear axle, Wheel end and Other vehicle parts systems. Responsible for components and systems from early concept through to current production.
Lead component and system Quality, Cost and Delivery target setting, compatibility, and adherence.
Manage the design, development and delivery of the Front axle, Rear axle, Wheel end and Other vehicle parts systems.
Manage the integration of Front axle, Rear axle, Wheel end and Other vehicle parts systems with Chassis Systems: Suspension, Steering, Subframes, Powertrain Mounts and Wheels & Tyres.
Create system archetypes and component development roadmaps for future vehicle cycle planning.
Ensure technical best practice documentation, design manuals and testing procedures are appropriately created and maintained to ensure consistency and robust failure mode avoidance.
Ensure all failure mode avoidance activities, commodity planning, design progression and DVP testing is completed to achieve Final Engineering Sign Off in line with timing constraints.
Achieve business plan investment and piece cost targets.
Experience
10 to 15 years extensive industry experience in Chassis Engineering and Development within an automotive OEM or automotive components supplier.
Proven experience of directly or indirectly leading an engineering team in a highly demanding working environment.
Good working knowledge of Performance, Durability and NVH attributes their impact on Chassis Systems.
Excellent knowledge of testing and development processes, GD&T, DFM & tooling principles, appreciation for VFM.
Excellent knowledge of Engineering Quality tools such as DFMEA, 6-sigma, 8D Problem Solving.
Good working knowledge of MISSION or an equivalent Product Creation System such as GPDS, FPDS, AMPC.
A methodical and scientific approach to problem solving and development. Able to correlate subjective assessment to objective data and cascade targets for components development through CAE and physical testing.
Strong knowledge on material selection of forging and casting parts.
Extensive working knowledge of Catia, Teamcenter, Competent in all Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge on MATLAB Simulink, added advantage on Kinematics & ADAMS.
Extensive knowledge in compiling the validation of Front axle, Rear axle, Wheel end and Other vehicle parts systems.
High level knowledge of instrumentation and measurement processes for objective chassis performance to cascade to system and component targets.
Expertise on FEA, load cases and durability analysis.
Drive cost-reduction initiatives and optimize designs for maximum efficiency, which often involves value engineering (VAVE/IMCR).
Engineering degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
