Montessori Assistant Teacher (Primary, Ages 3–6)
Role Summary:
Support the lead Montessori guide in maintaining a calm, orderly, and child-centered classroom environment. Assist children in their individual work cycles while upholding Montessori principles of independence, observation, and respect for the child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in preparing and maintaining the classroom environment (materials, shelves, displays)
- Supervise children during work periods, snack, and transitions
- Support toileting, hygiene, and self-care routines as needed
- Help with lesson material preparation, printing, and organizing work folders
- Observe children's progress and share notes with the lead guide
- Assist with lining up, dismissals, and early pick-ups
- Support outdoor/playground supervision and activity coordination
- Maintain a safe, clean, and child-friendly classroom at all times
- Communicate respectfully and calmly with children, modeling Montessori grace and courtesy
- Coordinate with lead teacher on daily schedules, snack observation, and parent communication as required
Requirements:
- Montessori Assistant Training Certificate (preferred) or willingness to undergo training
- Prior experience with children aged 3–6 years preferred
- Patience, warmth, and a calm temperament
- Basic understanding of child development and Montessori philosophy
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physical ability to be active and attentive with young children throughout the day
