Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled, disciplined, and experienced Chef to manage and oversee daily food preparation in the school mess kitchen. The Chef will be responsible for preparing nutritious, hygienic, and balanced meals for students and staff while ensuring high standards of food safety and kitchen management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare daily meals as per the approved school menu.
- Ensure food is cooked properly, maintaining taste, quality, and nutritional value.
- Supervise kitchen staff including cooks, helpers, and utility workers.
- Maintain strict hygiene and sanitation standards in the kitchen and storage areas.
- Monitor portion control and minimize food wastage.
- Ensure proper storage of raw materials as per food safety norms.
- Coordinate with the Mess Committee regarding menu planning and improvements.
- Maintain inventory records and assist in stock management.
- Ensure timely preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner.
- Follow all safety protocols and kitchen operational guidelines.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Proven experience as a Chef/Cook in a school, hostel, or institutional kitchen.
- Knowledge of Indian and basic continental cuisine.
- Understanding of large-quantity food preparation.
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to manage a team and work under pressure.
- Physically fit and disciplined.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma/Certificate in Hotel Management or Culinary Arts.
- Experience in boarding school or residential school kitchen preferred.
- Knowledge of nutrition for growing children will be an advantage.
