AON IS IN THE BUSINESS OF BETTER DECISIONS
At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organization, we are committed to our purpose as one firm, united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.
About the Role
Aon is seeking a talented and driven Enterprise Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team in India. This role puts you at the center of where impactful Enterprise Architecture is shaped — defining the patterns, standards, and decisions that govern how Aon builds and evolves its application landscape at scale, globally.
This is a hands-on, high-impact position for an opinionated technologist who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution. You will design enterprise-grade solutions that operate at scale, challenge the status quo with bold thinking, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with application teams, technology leaders, and business stakeholders to make great architecture a reality — not just a document.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture Leadership
-
Drive Enterprise Architecture initiatives across Aon's application portfolio, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment with business goals — including at-scale cloud-native deployments on hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
-
Enhance and improve existing enterprise architecture patterns — including cloud, cloud-native, and enterprise-grade patterns — to be adopted and followed by Aon's development teams.
-
Define and enforce non-functional requirements (performance, resilience, observability, security, scalability) as first-class architecture concerns embedded across the SDLC.
-
Invent new enterprise patterns with a 10x mindset — challenge the status quo and push for transformational rather than incremental architectural improvements.
-
Reconcile technical architecture with business architecture, bridging the gap between engineering capabilities and strategic objectives.
Enablement & Evangelism
-
Help application teams adopt enterprise architecture patterns through hands-on guidance, reviews, and mentoring.
-
Evangelize architecture standards and best practices across Aon's engineering organization.
-
Support the transformation of the engineering organization towards a product development-heavy model.
-
Stay abreast of the latest technology trends and advancements; translate insights into actionable guidance for Aon teams.
AI & Innovation
-
Champion and actively use AI technologies — including Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and other LLM and SLM (small language model)-based tools — as part of your daily workflow and in guiding teams.
-
Lead thinking on Agentic AI architectures: when to use them, how to design them safely at enterprise scale, and what guardrails are needed in production.
-
Identify opportunities to apply AI/ML, LLMs, SLMs, and Agentic patterns to improve architecture, developer productivity, and business outcomes.
-
Contribute to Aon's innovation agenda by exploring emerging technologies and assessing their applicability — with an opinionated, challenge-the-status-quo mindset.
Governance & Cross-Team Collaboration
-
Support architecture governance processes — including architecture reviews, design approvals, and standards enforcement.
-
Shape and improve innovation and architecture-related processes in partnership with technology leadership.
-
Deliver on defined annual goals and objectives, including those set by the Enterprise Architecture leadership.
-
Partner with engineering, product, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure cohesive end-to-end architecture.
