Position- Medical Officer
Location - Mapusa,North Goa
Job Purpose:
To provide medical support and patient care services, ensuring safe administration of cancer treatments, monitoring patient conditions, and coordinating with consultants for effective clinical management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Clinical Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial assessment and clinical evaluation of patients before chemotherapy or day care procedures.
- Record detailed medical history, vitals, and review investigation reports.
- Assist oncologists during chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other day care procedures.
- Monitor patients during and after treatment for adverse drug reactions or complications.
- Provide immediate medical intervention in case of emergencies.
- Ensure proper documentation in the HIS and patient file of treatment orders, progress notes, and refer to consultant OPD papers and prepare discharge summaries and explain to patients/ relative accordingly.
- Follow hospital infection control and safety protocols.
- Manage the side effects of chemotherapy, such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and other symptoms that may arise during treatment.
- Patient Care & Coordination:
- Counsel patients and relatives regarding treatment plans, possible side effects, and precautions.
- Coordinate with nursing staff for smooth treatment flow.
- Guide patients regarding medications, diet, and follow-up schedules.
- Ensure informed patient and relative consent is obtained before every procedure.
- Prompt response to patient investigation reports, questions and concerns via WhatsApp/ call or any other communication mode.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the centre admin/pharmacy for all chemotherapy drugs and consumables.
- To extend support to the duty schedule during the period when another RMO is on approved/emergency leave, to ensure uninterrupted clinical coverage and smooth functioning of services.
- Prepares and issues prescriptions for external lab tests and blood investigations.
- Emergency Management:
- Handle medical emergencies such as anaphylaxis, febrile neutropenia, or infusion reactions, stabilise patients and escalate to the consultant oncologist when required. To perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
