Job Purpose:
To prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, tapping, milling etc. Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc. Translating instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Set-up and operate CNC machines to perform different jobs including drilling, tapping and milling.
- Translate engineering drawings and requirements into dimensions for production.
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
- Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
- Ensure the CNC machine operates in accordance with the guidelines of the company.
- Oversee the machines while they execute the tasks and make the necessary changes to produce improved results.
- Check machinery on a daily basis to guarantee functionality.
- Record all machine actions by completing production and quality logs/Records.
- Ensure that results of machining process align with customer’s expectations.
- Conduct regular CNC machine assessments.
- Follow 5s at work place
- Follow Safety guidelines in the shop floor.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Educational qualifications: DME or ITI – Machinist or Turner or Fitter or CNC training courses
- Relevant experience: 3+ years experienced candidate in CNC operation.
