We are looking for an experienced Senior Editor to lead and strengthen our editorial operations.This role is ideal for someone who possesses strong editorial judgment, a deep understanding of the news ecosystem, and the ability to transform information into clear, accurate, and impactful journalism. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping coverage, maintaining editorial standards, and ensuring that every story published meets the highest standards of accuracy, relevance, and credibility.
The ideal candidate should have a thorough understanding of current Indian affairs, politics, governance, public policy, and social issues, with particular familiarity with developments in Tamil Nadu. They should be comfortable working in a fast-moving newsroom environment, managing multiple stories simultaneously, and guiding reporters through the editorial process.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, edit, and publish news stories, features, and special reports across digital platforms.
- Ensure accuracy, fairness, clarity, and consistency in all published content.
- Work closely with reporters to refine story angles, strengthen reporting, and improve overall quality.
- Monitor national, regional, and local developments to identify important coverage opportunities.
- Maintain editorial standards, style guidelines, and newsroom best practices.
- Verify facts, sources, and sensitive information before publication.
- Coordinate with reporters, content teams, photographers, videographers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of content.
- Provide editorial guidance during breaking news situations and high-priority coverage.
- Assist in planning daily, weekly, and long-form editorial coverage.
- Mentor junior reporters and contribute to the professional development of the newsroom team.
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience in journalism, editing, or newsroom operations.
- Strong knowledge of Indian and Tamil Nadu news, politics, governance, and current affairs.
- Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills.
- Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced news environment.
- Proficiency in Tamil and English; working knowledge of Hindi will be an added advantage.
- Experience working with digital publishing platforms and newsroom workflows.
- Strong understanding of media ethics, editorial responsibility, and journalistic standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across editorial and content teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading editorial teams or managing newsroom operations.
- Background in political, civic, investigative, or public-interest journalism.
- Familiarity with SEO, audience engagement, and digital publishing strategies.
- Experience working with multimedia content, including video and social media formats.
- Knowledge of content management systems and editorial analytics tools.
