Job Summary
The Assistant Professor in Psychology is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting research, and mentoring students in various domains of psychology. The role includes academic instruction, psychological research, supervision of practical training, and contributing to institutional development through curriculum design, student support, and research initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Academic Delivery
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, and seminars in undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programs.
- Teach core and applied psychology subjects such as:
- General Psychology
- Cognitive Psychology
- Developmental Psychology
- Social Psychology
- Clinical Psychology
- Research Methods and Statistics
- Prepare lesson plans, lecture notes, case studies, and assessment tools.
- Conduct internal assessments, examinations, and evaluations.
- Promote critical thinking, research orientation, and scientific understanding of behavior.
Research & Publications
- Conduct research in psychological and behavioral sciences.
- Publish research papers in UGC CARE-listed and reputed indexed journals.
- Participate in national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Guide students in dissertations, research projects, and psychological studies.
- Apply for research grants and interdisciplinary projects.
Practical Training & Lab Work
- Conduct psychological testing and assessment practicals.
- Train students in administering and interpreting psychological tests (IQ, personality, aptitude, etc.).
- Supervise lab work, case studies, and field observations.
- Maintain psychology lab equipment, tools, and test materials.
Student Mentorship & Development
- Mentor students on academic, career, and research pathways in psychology.
- Support internships in hospitals, NGOs, schools, and counseling centers.
- Organize workshops, seminars, and mental health awareness programs.
- Encourage participation in conferences, research forums, and certifications.
Academic Administration
- Participate in curriculum development and revision.
- Maintain academic records, attendance, and evaluation documentation.
- Contribute to NAAC and institutional quality assurance processes.
- Assist in admissions, examinations, and departmental activities.
Industry & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with hospitals, mental health institutions, NGOs, and schools.
- Facilitate counseling exposure, internships, and fieldwork opportunities.
- Conduct mental health awareness and community outreach programs.
- Support applied psychology initiatives in real-world settings.
Qualification & ExperienceEssential Qualifications
- Master’s Degree (M.A./M.Sc.) in Psychology with First Class.
- NET (Psychology) qualified as per UGC norms (mandatory where applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Psychology or pursuing doctoral research.
- Specialization in Clinical, Counseling, Organizational, or Applied Psychology.
- Experience in teaching, research, or clinical/counseling practice.
- Publications in reputed journals.
