Job Summary
The Site Engineer – CIVIL will be responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and completing construction projects within the approved scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety standards. The role involves leading project teams, coordinating with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors, and ensuring smooth execution from project initiation through final handover.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Execution
- Develop detailed project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Plan and manage project activities from commencement to completion.
- Ensure project objectives, scope, milestones, and deliverables are clearly defined and achieved.
- Monitor project progress and take corrective action wherever required.
2. Budget & Cost Management
- Prepare and monitor project budgets and cost estimates.
- Control project costs and minimize unnecessary expenditure.
- Monitor material, manpower, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review bills, variations, and change orders in coordination with the commercial/accounts team.
3. Project Scheduling
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
- Track milestones, critical activities, and project deadlines.
- Identify delays and implement recovery plans to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate activities among different project teams and agencies.
4. Resource Management
- Plan and effectively utilize manpower, materials, machinery, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with procurement and stores teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Monitor productivity and optimize resource utilization.
5. Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and government authorities.
- Conduct regular project review meetings and communicate project status.
- Address client concerns and ensure timely resolution of issues.
6. Quality Management
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and applicable codes.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team to maintain required quality standards.
- Review inspection reports and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Ensure proper testing, inspection, and documentation of completed works.
7. Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and statutory safety requirements.
- Coordinate with the safety team to identify and control workplace hazards.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the project site.
- Ensure appropriate safety procedures and PPE requirements are followed.
8. Risk & Issue Management
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Monitor technical, commercial, schedule, resource, and contractual risks.
- Resolve project issues promptly and escalate critical matters to management.
- Maintain an updated project risk and issue register.
9. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project records, drawings, specifications, approvals, change orders, contracts, and correspondence.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports.
- Maintain records of project meetings, decisions, milestones, and action items.
- Ensure proper documentation for project handover and closeout.
10. Contract & Change Management
- Monitor project activities against contractual requirements.
- Review scope changes, variations, claims, and extension-of-time requirements.
- Coordinate with commercial and contractual teams regarding project-related contractual matters.
- Ensure compliance with client and contractual obligations.
11. Team Leadership
- Lead, guide, and motivate the project team.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor individual and team performance.
- Conduct regular coordination and progress meetings.
- Develop a collaborative and performance-oriented project environment.
12. Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Identify technical, operational, commercial, and execution-related issues.
- Make timely decisions to minimize project delays and cost impact.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to develop practical solutions.
13. Project Completion & Handover
- Ensure completion of all project activities within the approved schedule.
- Coordinate snagging, testing, commissioning, and rectification works.
- Ensure preparation of as-built drawings, completion documents, and handover documentation.
- Coordinate final project handover and closeout.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Engineering / relevant discipline.
- PMP, PG in Construction Management, or equivalent certification will be an added advantage.
