We are seeking an experienced and disciplined Factory Floor Supervisor to oversee daily operations in our manufacturing unit. The ideal candidate will be a retired professional from an Army Base Workshop or similar defense setup who is looking for a meaningful second innings in a dynamic industrial environment or a candidate with extensive experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication.The role demands hands-on expertise in lathe and machining operations, supervision of fitters and welders, and implementation of production targets while maintaining a high level of efficiency, safety, and discipline.Role & responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the machine shop floor, including lathe, milling, drilling, and fabrication operations.
- Lead and manage a team of fitters, machinists, and welders to ensure smooth workflow and timely production output.
- Ensure adherence to monthly production schedules and quality standards.
- Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings for accurate execution.
- Maintain and enforce discipline, safety norms, and 5S workplace practices on the shop floor.
- Conduct routine inspections of machines, tools, and equipment for maintenance and performance.
- Ensure optimal usage of materials including Stainless Steel (SS), Mild Steel (MS), and other metals as per production needs.
- Report daily progress, manpower utilization, and production issues to the management.
- Foster a cordial and respectful work environment, leading by example with integrity and professionalism.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Retired personnel from Army Base Workshop / Defense Engineering Services / Technical Corps preferred.
- Strong knowledge of lathe operations, metal fabrication, and machining techniques.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret tolerances and assembly details.
- Proven experience in team handling, production planning, and shop floor management.
- Working knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, and lean manufacturing practices.
- Excellent discipline, leadership, and communication skills.
- Physically fit and energetic, willing to be hands-on in daily operations.
