Department: Piping Design & Engineering Role SummaryResponsible for checking piping isometric drawings, spool drawings, and related deliverables for compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and client requirements. Ensure accuracy, completeness, constructability, and consistency of piping design documents before issue. Key Responsibilities
- Check piping isometric drawings generated from 3D models or manual drafting.
- Verify pipe routing, dimensions, coordinates, elevations, and tie-in points.
- Review pipe support locations and support references.
- Check line specifications, piping classes, wall thicknesses, and material descriptions.
- Verify weld counts, spool breaks, field welds, and fabrication requirements.
- Review bill of materials (BOM/MTO) for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with project standards, client specifications, and applicable codes such as:
- ASME B31.3
- ISO standards
- Company engineering standards
- Coordinate with piping designers, stress engineers, and layout engineers to resolve discrepancies.
- Perform quality checks before IFC (Issued for Construction) or fabrication release.
- Maintain checker markups and ensure comments are incorporated correctly.
- Participate in interdisciplinary reviews and model reviews.
Required Skills
- Good understanding of piping isometrics, GA drawings, and P&IDs.
- Knowledge of pipe fittings, valves, flanges, supports, and fabrication practices.
- Familiarity with plant design software such as:
- Smart 3D (S3D)
- AutoCAD Plant 3D
- CADWorx
- E3D
- Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and piping specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
Qualification
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in piping design checking, isometric checking, or piping detailing in oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer, or process industries.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in fabrication-oriented isometrics and spool drawings.
- Exposure to offshore/onshore projects.
- Knowledge of extraction and verification of MTO/BOM from 3D models.
- Familiarity with document management systems and QA/QC procedures.
