- Overseeing the CNC department and its staff, including CNC operators, programmers, and technicians.
- Collaborating with production managers and planners to establish production schedules and priorities.
- Developing and optimizing CNC programs for various machining operations.
- Setting up CNC machines with the appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials. Troubleshooting programming or setup issues.
- Implementing and enforcing quality control measures to ensure the precision and accuracy of machined parts.
- Overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of CNC machines, including regular servicing and repairs.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements, such as reducing cycle times or improving tool life.
- Implementing lean manufacturing principles to increase efficiency.
- Providing training to CNC operators and other team members on safe and efficient machine operation.
- Keeping the team updated on best practices, new technologies, and industry trends.
- Monitoring and managing inventory levels for tooling, materials, and consumables used in CNC operations.
- Ensuring that all safety protocols and regulations are followed in the CNC department.
- Maintaining accurate records of production outputs, machine performance, and maintenance activities.
- Generating reports for management regarding production metrics and key performance indicators.
- Monitoring and controlling expenses related to CNC operations, including labour costs, material costs, and maintenance expenses.
- Troubleshooting technical issues related to CNC machines, tools, and programs.
- Collaborating with engineering and other departments to resolve complex problems.
