- Age & Certification: Most states require bartenders to be at least 18-21 years old and hold alcohol server certification, such as TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol.
- Experience: Previous experience as a barback, server, or in other hospitality roles is often preferred, though not always mandatory.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in mixing classic cocktails, understanding flavor profiles, handling POS systems, and managing cash.
- Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, and lift heavy items (e.g., kegs).
- Soft Skills: Excellent customer service, ability to remain calm under pressure, strong memory for orders, and a friendly demeanor
