Architech Labs is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Enclosure Design Intern to join our product development team in Gurgaon. This internship offers hands-on experience in designing and developing enclosures for electronic and embedded products while working closely with engineering teams on real-world hardware projects.
The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in CAD design, product development, mechanical engineering, and prototyping. You will be involved in creating manufacturable enclosure designs, supporting prototype development, and contributing to the product development lifecycle from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and development of plastic and sheet metal enclosures for electronic products.
- Create 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing-ready CAD designs.
- Design enclosure layouts considering component fitment, assembly requirements, and manufacturability.
- Develop mounting provisions for PCBs, connectors, displays, switches, sensors, and other internal components.
- Create technical drawings, assembly drawings, and exploded views.
- Prepare STL, STEP, IGES, DXF, and PDF files for prototyping and manufacturing.
- Support 3D printing, prototype fabrication, fitment testing, and design validation.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Maintain engineering documentation and design revisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and manufacturing partners during product development.
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing or completed Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar CAD software.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and product development processes.
- Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn and work in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of plastic part design and sheet metal design.
- Familiarity with 3D printing and prototyping workflows.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Exposure to enclosure design for electronics or embedded systems.
- Basic knowledge of engineering materials such as ABS, PC, PETG, Nylon, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel.
