About the Company
India doesn’t need more skyscrapers—it needs smarter, faster, safer buildings where people actually live. 75% of India is rural and underserved, yet most construction innovation goes to the top 10% of high-rises.
The insight was simple: if rural India can use high-tech products—cars, tractors, smartphones—why can’t they access world-class buildings too?
So we productized low-rise construction. Instead of chaotic site work, we manufacture buildings in factories—with precision, scale, and predictable timelines—and deploy them anywhere in India.
- A school in Odisha deserves the safety of a Corporate Headquarters.
- A clinic in Bihar deserves Apollo-level hygiene.
- A micro-processing unit run by a women’s self-help group in Tamil Nadu deserves ITC-grade reliability.
Since 2018, bootstrapped, we’ve built 1,500+ buildings—including 500+ schools, clinics, and shelters—across 21 Indian states and in Africa. We’ve partnered with Fortune 500 Companies, State Governments, and development banks.
With strong pilots and live projects across F&B, edge data centres, FMCG, oil & gas, healthcare, Global Exports and PSUs, Modulus is demonstrating what the future of distributed low-rise infrastructure should look like—faster, more cost-efficient, and built to higher standards of quality.
From IIT Madras Research Park, our 70+ member team is redesigning how India builds—using precision engineering once reserved for skyscrapers, now delivered to places that need it most. Scaling in a bootstrapped fashion from ₹20 Lakh to over ₹200 Crore in project deliveries within 4 years. With strong product-market fit, sustainability, and healthy cash flow, we have now raised our first funding round of $8M to further scale our vision.
Role Summary
The Sr. Structural Design Engineer (PEB) will lead the structural design and detailing of PEB/steel and RCC systems for high-rise residential and mixed-use projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and project specifications.
You will own the structural design packages from concept through IFC, support EPC execution with timely clarifications, and drive optimization of steel tonnage and RCC quantities. Your work will directly impact structural safety, construction quality, cost control, and speed of delivery across multi-tower developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural analysis and design of PEB/steel and RCC systems for multi-storey/high-rise residential towers and associated low-rise structures using STAAD.Pro/ETABS as per relevant IS codes.
- Prepare, review, and validate design calculations, GA drawings, connection details, fabrication drawings, and bar bending schedules, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and alignment with EPC timelines.
- Design and review foundations (isolated, combined, raft, and pile) for high-rise and steel structures in varied soil conditions, coordinating with geotechnical inputs and site constraints.
- Coordinate closely with architects, MEP consultants, PEB vendors, and internal project/site teams to resolve structural and constructability issues, manage RFIs, and incorporate design changes efficiently.
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering exercises, and optimization studies to reduce rework, control material quantities, and improve overall project cost and schedule performance.
- Ensure all structural deliverables meet safety, quality, and code-compliance requirements, and support the setup and continuous improvement of design and site interface processes.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers/drafters, and support BIM/Revit-based coordination and clash resolution where applicable.
Must Have
Essential Requirements
- 5–7 years of experience in structural design with strong exposure to PEB/steel structures along with RCC, preferably on high-rise residential or mixed-use projects.
- M.Tech in Structural Engineering with solid understanding of structural analysis, load paths, and design of steel and RCC members.
- Hands-on experience in analysis and design using STAAD.Pro (or equivalent) for multi-storey buildings and PEB structures as per relevant IS codes (IS 800, IS 456, IS 1893, IS 875, IS 801/IS 806).
- Proven ability to prepare and review design calculations, GA drawings, connection details, and fabrication drawings for PEB/steel structures.
- Experience in coordinating with architects, MEP consultants, and site teams to resolve structural/constructability issues during design and execution.
- Strong knowledge of foundation design for high-rise and steel structures (isolated, combined, raft, and pile foundations) in varied soil conditions.
- Ability to independently handle multiple design packages, meet tight EPC timelines, and provide timely design clarifications/RFIs support to site.
- Proficiency in structural design, analysis, and detailing of PEB Structures.
Nice to Have
Bonus Qualifications
- Prior experience working with reputed EPC contractors or PEB manufacturers on multi-tower residential projects.
- Exposure to BIM/Revit-based coordination for structural models and clash resolution.
- Familiarity with international codes (e.g., AISC, ACI, BS/Eurocodes) for steel and concrete design.
- Experience in value engineering/optimization of steel tonnage and RCC quantities for cost-effective designs.
- Basic understanding of connection design software or in-house tools used by PEB vendors.
