Job Summary
The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental practices at the construction site. The role ensures that employees, subcontractors, visitors, equipment, and work activities comply with company safety policies, applicable regulations, and project-specific HSE requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections to identify unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and potential hazards.
- Implement and monitor site-specific HSE policies, procedures, and safety plans.
- Ensure workers and subcontractors follow required safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, awareness programs, and regular safety training.
- Prepare and maintain risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) / Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), as applicable.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as work at height, excavation, lifting operations, scaffolding, hot work, electrical work, and confined-space activities.
- Inspect scaffolding, ladders, lifting equipment, safety harnesses, fire extinguishers, electrical installations, and other safety equipment.
- Ensure proper barricading, signage, access control, housekeeping, and emergency arrangements at the site.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences and prepare reports with corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor compliance with statutory safety requirements and project HSE standards.
- Coordinate with project engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and workers to resolve safety issues.
- Stop unsafe work when there is an immediate risk to personnel or property and escalate the issue to management.
- Maintain safety records, inspection checklists, training records, incident reports, permits, and other HSE documentation.
- Conduct emergency drills and ensure emergency response procedures are communicated to site personnel.
- Monitor environmental practices such as waste management, dust control, noise control, and spill prevention where applicable.
- Participate in internal and external safety audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports for management.
- Promote a positive safety culture and encourage workers to report hazards and near misses.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant safety certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent is preferred.
- 3–6years of relevant experience in construction/infrastructure safety.
- Strong knowledge of construction-site hazards, risk assessment, PPE, and safe work practices.
- Good knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety requirements.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
