Key Responsibilities
- Lead finite element analysis (FEA) and multi-physics simulations for composite and metallic structures using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, or equivalent.
- Perform structural, modal, thermal, fatigue, crash/impact, and buckling analyses for composite components and assemblies.
- Collaborate with design engineers to provide design optimization, material selection, and weight reduction strategies.
- Support laminate theory, ply stacking sequence optimization, and damage tolerance analysis for composite structures.
- Conduct virtual testing and validation to reduce prototyping costs and timelines.
- Develop and review CAE methodologies, workflows, and best practices for the department.
- Interpret test data and correlate with CAE models to improve prediction accuracy.
- Prepare and present detailed technical reports, analysis summaries, and design recommendations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and quality to ensure design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and compliance to aerospace & defence standards.
- Mentor junior CAE engineers and provide technical guidance on advanced simulations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical / Aerospace / Automotive Engineering (or equivalent).
- 3 to 5 years of CAE experience in aerospace, defence, automotive, or advanced composites industry.
- Strong expertise in FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, HyperMesh, LS-DYNA, etc.) and pre/post-processing software.
- Hands-on experience in composite material modelling (orthotropic properties, progressive failure, delamination, impact analysis, etc.).
- Knowledge of CAD tools (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar) for integration with CAE models.
- Familiarity with aerospace/defence standards (e.g., MIL, ASTM, FAA, ISO).
