Position Purpose:
The HSE Governance Specialist supports the delivery and continuous improvement of the organisation’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) framework across Sandoz, ensuring that standards are effectively implemented and embedded, including within external supplier networks. Working closely with the HSE Governance Lead, this role focuses on translating governance frameworks into practical application, supporting risk reduction, compliance, and consistent execution of HSE standard work.This role requires strong hands-on HSE technical capability, combined with the ability to analyse data, support audits, and partner cross-functionally to strengthen HSE performance across the organisation, including external supplier networks. This is a delivery-focused role, expected to actively support the implementation and application of HSE standards in operational environments.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to
- Support the implementation and maintenance of a consistent HSE governance framework, aligned with internal requirements and external standards (e.g. ISO 45001).
- Act as a hands-on technical HSE contributor, applying domain knowledge to actively support risk management and high-risk activities.
- Play an active role in the Global HSE audit program, including preparation, participation, and action tracking to support effective closure.
- Participate in supplier qualification and monitoring activities from an HSE perspective.
- Contribute to defining and communicating HSE expectations for external suppliers and partners, ensuring alignment with Sandoz requirements.
- Analyse HSE data and trends to identify risks, support root cause analysis, and contribute to targeted action plans and effective read across.
- Deliver governance data collection, reporting, and performance tracking of HSE KPIs.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HSE governance tools, templates, and standard processes and procedures.
- Support cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, internal HSE framework and recognised international standards (e.g. ISO 45001 / 14001).
- Leverage digital HSE platforms (e.g. Enablon) to support data accuracy, reporting, and insights.
- Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement through consistent application of HSE principles.
What you’ll bring to the role:Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Occupational Health& Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline. 3–7 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in pharmaceutical, chemical, or manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated hands-on HSE technical capability, particularly in risk management and high-risk activities (e.g. permit to work, incident investigation, risk assessment).
- Familiarity with ISO standards and HSE Management systems (e.g. 45001 / 14001). Experience supporting audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation tools. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and support decision-making. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively in a matrix organisation.
- Desired characteristics: Certified or working towards HSE certification (e.g. NEBOSH, CSP, CMIOSH or equivalent), Detail-oriented with a structured and disciplined approach, Proactive mindset and willingness to take initiative. International exposure or experience in multicultural environments
- Eligibility requirements: Willingness to travel (up to 30%), Flexibility to support global teams and time zones.
