Job Summary
The Radiotherapy Technologist is responsible for delivering prescribed radiation treatments to cancer patients safely and accurately. The role involves operating radiotherapy equipment, positioning patients, maintaining treatment records, following radiation safety protocols, and collaborating with oncologists, medical physicists, and nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver radiation therapy as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
- Prepare and accurately position patients using immobilization devices.
- Operate radiotherapy equipment such as Linear Accelerators (LINAC), CT Simulator, and brachytherapy systems.
- Verify patient identity and treatment parameters before each session.
- Follow radiation safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor patients during treatment and report any adverse reactions.
- Assist in CT simulation and treatment planning procedures.
- Perform routine machine quality assurance and report equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate treatment documentation in the Oncology Information System (OIS).
- Educate patients regarding treatment procedures and address concerns.
- Work closely with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and Oncology Nurses.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental audits.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. in Radiotherapy Technology / Radiation Therapy Technology or equivalent.
- Valid registration with the applicable professional council (where required).
- 0–2 years of experience for junior roles; more experience for senior positions.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of radiotherapy principles and radiation safety.
- Experience with LINAC, CT Simulator, IGRT, IMRT, VMAT, and brachytherapy (as applicable).
- Understanding of treatment planning systems and oncology information systems.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Pay: ₹19,000.80 - ₹30,000.00 per month
