Role description
The L3 Network Security Engineer is responsible for the design, architecture, optimization, and escalation support of enterprise network security platforms, including Fortinet Firewalls, Cisco Firewalls, Azure WAF, Azure Firewall, F5, NAC (Cisco and Aruba). The role provides technical leadership for complex security initiatives, platform enhancements, security architecture reviews, and operational governance.
Key Responsibilities -
a. Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Azure WAF, Fortinet Firewalls and Cisco Firewalls environments.
b. Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of F5, NAC solution (Aruba, Cisco)
c. Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Zscaler (ZIA & ZPA)
d. Act as the highest technical escalation point for complex network security incidents and problem management.
e. Design and implement advanced firewall security policies, segmentation strategies, and Zero Trust architectures.
f. Lead firewall migration, consolidation, and transformation projects.
g. Perform architecture reviews and recommend security improvements.
h. Review and approve complex firewall changes and network security designs.
i. Lead firmware upgrades, lifecycle management, and platform modernization activities.
j. Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and firewall optimization exercises.
k. Drive firewall rule recertification, policy cleanup, and compliance initiatives.
l. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to L1/L2 engineers.
m. Work closely with cloud, SOC, infrastructure, and application teams to support business initiatives.
n. Manage vendor escalations and participate in root cause analysis for major incidents.
o. Develop operational standards, runbooks, technical documentation, and best practices.
p. Support regulatory audits and security assessments.
