Job Description – Purchase Executive

Industry Preference: Steel Fabrication / Engineering / Manufacturing
Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Purchase Executive with experience in the steel fabrication industry. The candidate should have strong ERP system knowledge and hands-on experience in procurement operations, vendor coordination, material planning, and purchase process management. The role requires expertise in procurement of steel raw materials, process valves, instrumentation items, and production-related materials.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchase Operations
- Handle complete purchase cycle from indent processing to purchase order generation.
- Float inquiries to vendors and collect quotations through ERP system.
- Prepare comparative statements (quotation comparison) and negotiate commercial terms.
- Release purchase orders and ensure timely procurement of materials.
- Follow up with vendors for order confirmation, delivery schedules, and dispatch status.
- Coordinate with stores, production, and planning departments for material availability.
ERP System Handling
- Manage all procurement activities through ERP software.
- Create and process purchase indents, RFQs, purchase orders, and GRN coordination in ERP.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, vendor data, and material transactions.
- Generate MIS reports related to procurement, pending orders, and vendor performance.
Material Planning & Coordination
- Plan material procurement as per production planning requirements.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with stores to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials for uninterrupted production.
Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with approved vendors and suppliers.
- Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and pricing.
- Identify alternate vendors for cost optimization and timely procurement.
Technical Purchase Knowledge
- Procurement of steel raw materials such as:
- Steel Sheets
- MS/SS Plates
- Rods
- Pipes
- Structural materials
- Procurement knowledge of:
- Process Valves
- Instrumentation items
- Industrial fittings and engineering consumables
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of ERP-based procurement processes.
- Good understanding of steel fabrication industry procurement.
- Knowledge of technical materials and engineering drawings preferred.
- Strong negotiation and vendor follow-up skills.
- Good analytical and quotation comparison ability.
- Knowledge of inventory and material planning concepts.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP reporting.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
