MapleField Construction is a growing concrete and foundation construction company specializing in commercial, industrial, and municipal projects across Ontario. We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter to prepare accurate rebar shop drawings for concrete construction projects.
Position Summary
The CAD Drafter will be responsible for reviewing structural drawings and specifications, preparing detailed rebar shop drawings, bar bending schedules, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and site personnel to ensure accurate and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed rebar shop drawings using AutoCAD, RebarCAD, ASA, or similar drafting software.
- Review structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Generate bar bending schedules (BBS) and material take-offs.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and rebar fabricators to resolve design and detailing issues.
- Revise shop drawings based on engineer and client comments.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Maintain drawing logs and document control throughout project execution.
- Support project teams with drafting and detailing requirements.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience preparing rebar shop drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and rebar detailing software.
- Strong understanding of reinforced concrete construction and structural drawings.
- Knowledge of Ontario construction standards and practices is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Experience detailing foundations, retaining walls, slabs, tanks, vaults, and municipal structures.
- Familiarity with CSA and ACI reinforced concrete standards.
- Experience coordinating directly with rebar suppliers and fabricators.
