Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automotive Parts Designer to work on engine spare parts, 2D/3D automotive component modeling, reverse engineering, and technical drawing creation. The candidate will be responsible for developing accurate CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and design solutions for automotive and mechanical components while ensuring quality, functionality, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive engine spare parts and mechanical components.
- Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
- Perform reverse engineering of existing components using measurements, scans, and reference samples.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Modify and improve existing designs based on engineering requirements.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure design feasibility.
- Ensure designs comply with automotive standards and safety requirements.
- Conduct dimensional analysis and tolerance studies.
- Maintain proper documentation and revision control for all designs.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and automotive components.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as:
- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks
- CATIA
- Creo
- Siemens NX
- Experience in 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
- Knowledge of reverse engineering techniques and measurement tools.
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as casting, machining, forging, and sheet metal.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Qualification
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in automotive design or spare parts development preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with engine components, transmission parts, or automotive assemblies.
- Knowledge of 3D scanning and reverse engineering tools.
- Experience in prototype development and product improvement.
