Job summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies. The role also provides financial insights to management and supports effective financial decision-making.Key
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank transactions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Perform bank, ledger, and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and documentation.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Monitor receivables, payables, cash flow, and outstanding balances.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax laws, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with auditors and provide required schedules, documents, and financial information.
- Support internal and external audits and implement recommended controls.
- Review financial transactions and ensure proper authorization and supporting documentation.
- Monitor expenses and identify variances or unusual transactions.
- Assist with tax-related activities, including GST, TDS, income tax, and other statutory filings where applicable.
- Develop and maintain effective internal financial controls.
- Prepare financial analysis and reports to support management decision-making.
- Supervise and guide junior accountants and accounting staff.
- Coordinate with banks, vendors, customers, auditors, and other stakeholders as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as CA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Typically 3–5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Good working knowledge of accounting software and MS Excel.
- Knowledge of applicable tax and statutory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
