Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager – Shipbuilding to lead and manage shipbuilding projects from project planning through construction, testing, commissioning, and delivery. The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality, safety, technical, and contractual requirements.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in shipbuilding project execution, production planning, resource management, stakeholder coordination, and leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Execution
- Lead end-to-end execution of shipbuilding projects from project kick-off to vessel delivery.
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, milestones, and resource plans.
- Monitor project progress against approved timelines and take corrective actions to avoid delays.
- Coordinate all stages of vessel construction, including design, procurement, fabrication, block assembly, hull erection, outfitting, launching, testing, commissioning, and sea trials.
- Ensure timely achievement of project milestones.
2. Team & Department Coordination
- Coordinate with various departments, including:

- Conduct regular project review meetings and monitor action points.
- Manage internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and service providers.
3. Cost & Budget Control
- Prepare and monitor project budgets.
- Track project costs and identify cost overruns.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, materials, machinery, and other resources.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and productivity.
- Support cost estimation and project forecasting.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
4. Project Scheduling & Progress Monitoring
- Develop and monitor project schedules using project management tools.
- Identify critical activities and potential bottlenecks.
- Prepare recovery plans for delayed activities.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly progress.
- Prepare and present project progress reports to management.
5. Technical & Production Management
- Ensure vessel construction is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Coordinate resolution of technical issues with the Engineering and Design teams.
- Monitor production quality and productivity.
- Ensure smooth workflow between fabrication, erection, and outfitting activities.
- Review changes and variations affecting project schedules and costs.
6. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with approved QA/QC procedures and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, and classification societies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure timely corrective actions.
7. Testing, Commissioning & Delivery
- Plan and coordinate testing and commissioning activities.
- Ensure completion of harbour trials and sea trials as applicable.
- Coordinate with clients and classification societies during inspections.
- Ensure all punch points and outstanding works are closed before delivery.
- Manage final documentation and project handover.
8. Risk Management & Problem Solving
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Resolve technical, commercial, and operational issues affecting project performance.
- Escalate critical issues to senior management when required.
- Implement preventive and corrective actions to improve project performance.
9. Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure strict compliance with shipyard HSE policies.
- Promote a strong safety culture across project teams.
- Ensure risk assessments, toolbox talks, and work permits are implemented where required.
- Ensure no compromise on safety to achieve production targets.
Required Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering / Shipbuilding Engineering
- A postgraduate qualification in Project Management will be an added advantage.
- PMP certification is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience Requirements
- 6–12 years of overall relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Management or Project Leadership.
- Strong experience in Shipbuilding, Ship Repair, Marine Engineering, Offshore, or Heavy Engineering projects.
- Experience managing complete vessel construction projects is highly preferred.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of the complete shipbuilding process.
- Knowledge of hull construction, block fabrication, and hull erection.
- Understanding of mechanical, piping, electrical, and outfitting activities.
- Knowledge of project planning and scheduling.
- Experience in budget and cost control.
- Knowledge of QA/QC and inspection processes.
- Familiarity with classification society requirements.
- Knowledge of risk management and contract management.
- Proficiency in MS Project / Primavera P6.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel and project reporting tools.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹75,000.00 per month
