About the Role:
We are looking for a hands-on Production Engineer to manage and drive day-to-day production activities at our structural steel fabrication facility.
The company primarily undertakes heavy structural steel fabrication for Steel Plants, Thermal Power Plants, Cement Plants, Railway Projects and other industrial infrastructure, with additional operations in Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures.
The ideal candidate should have practical shop-floor experience in structural steel/heavy fabrication and should be comfortable taking ownership of manpower, contractors, machines, production targets, productivity and timely completion of fabrication activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Shop-Floor Management:
· Plan, supervise and monitor day-to-day fabrication activities to achieve planned production targets.
- Take ownership of daily and monthly tonnage targets and ensure production is achieved as per schedule.
- Allocate and monitor manpower, contractors and work fronts based on production priorities.
- Monitor machine-wise productivity, manpower utilization and work-centre efficiency.
- Coordinate activities across cutting, drilling, fit-up, welding, assembly, straightening, finishing, blasting, painting and dispatch.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to maintain workflow.
- Ensure proper sequencing of jobs to minimize idle time, material movement, waiting time and rework.
- Ensure optimum utilization of fabrication equipment, welding machines, cutting machines, cranes and other shop-floor resources.
- Monitor production against drawings, BOMs, fabrication requirements and project priorities.
- Coordinate with supervisors, contractors and operators to ensure smooth execution.

The candidate should be able to understand the practical requirements and bottlenecks associated with each stage of fabrication.
Drawings & Technical Coordination:
- Read and interpret GA drawings, fabrication/shop drawings, assembly drawings and part drawings.
- Understand material specifications, BOMs, cutting requirements and fabrication sequences.
- Coordinate with Design/Detailing and QA/QC teams for drawing-related or fabrication-related issues.
- Ensure fabrication is carried out as per approved drawings and project requirements.
- Highlight discrepancies, drawing issues and technical constraints before they affect production.
Manpower & Contractor Management:
- Supervise fabrication contractors and shop-floor workforce.
- Allocate manpower according to work priorities and production requirements.
- Monitor contractor-wise productivity and output.
- Establish realistic daily targets for individual work fronts.
- Ensure adequate manpower is available at critical production stages.
- Address productivity gaps and take corrective action.
Maintain discipline and adherence to shop-floor procedures.
Production Monitoring & MIS:
- Prepare and maintain daily production reports.
- Track production in MT/day, MT/month and work-centre-wise output.
- Monitor planned vs. actual production.
- Track productivity, machine utilization, manpower deployment and pending work.
- Report bottlenecks, delays, rework and production losses to management.
- Maintain production-related records and MIS using MS Excel / ERP systems.
- Provide accurate daily updates to management regarding production status and projected completion.
Quality & Rework Control:
- Coordinate closely with QA/QC to ensure fabrication quality is maintained during production.
- Minimize rework, rejection, material wastage and avoidable fabrication errors.
- Ensure fabrication defects are identified and corrected at the earliest stage.
- Understand the impact of poor fit-up, welding defects, dimensional deviations and improper sequencing on production and delivery.
Safety & Housekeeping:
- Ensure adherence to shop-floor safety practices.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe working practices.
- Maintain good housekeeping and organized work areas.
- Promote 5S and efficient material/workflow management.
- Ensure safe operation of fabrication machinery and lifting equipment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
The candidate will be evaluated on:

Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in:
- Heavy Structural Steel Fabrication
- Industrial Steel Fabrication
- Heavy Engineering
- PEB Manufacturing
- Steel Plant / Power Plant / Cement Plant fabrication
- Industrial infrastructure fabrication
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and understand fabrication and assembly drawings.
- Practical knowledge of welding, fit-up, cutting and assembly operations.
- Experience handling shop-floor manpower and contractors.
- Ability to work with production targets and deadlines.
- Good MS Excel and reporting skills.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of production output.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Jaipur, Rajasthan (Jaipur): Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
