Job Summary
The Project Manager – Electrical is responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of electrical works within MEP projects. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract specifications, local authority regulations, and company quality standards. The Project Manager coordinates with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to achieve project objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Execution
- Manage electrical MEP projects from award through final handover.
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, resource plans, and budgets.
- Coordinate electrical activities with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, ELV, and civil teams.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
Technical Management
- Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and shop drawings.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, local electrical codes, and authority requirements.
- Oversee installation, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and project handover.
- Resolve technical issues in coordination with consultants and design teams.
- Review method statements, inspection requests, and material submittals.
Commercial & Cost Control
- Monitor project budgets and control costs.
- Review variations, change orders, and contractual claims.
- Support preparation of monthly progress invoices and project cash flow.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and certify completed work.
Quality & HSE
- Ensure compliance with company Quality Management System (QMS).
- Implement Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements across all project activities.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety reviews.
- Ensure all testing and inspections are completed according to project requirements.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Attend project coordination meetings and prepare progress reports.
- Maintain strong client relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate approvals, inspections, and authority clearances.
Team Leadership
- Lead Project Engineers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, and Foremen.
- Allocate manpower and equipment efficiently.
- Monitor team performance and provide technical guidance and mentoring.
- Promote teamwork and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- PMP certification is preferred.
- Membership in a recognized engineering body is an advantage.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in Electrical MEP contracting.
- Minimum 5 years in a Project Manager role.
- Proven experience delivering high-rise, commercial, residential, healthcare, hospitality, or industrial MEP projects.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of LV electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, emergency power, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm, and ELV coordination.
- Experience with testing, commissioning, and project handover.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, MS Project and/or Primavera P6.
- Familiarity with international standards (IEC, NEC, NFPA, IEEE) and local authority regulations.
