As a Student Mentor, you will be the driving force behind student success, well-being, and academic growth within our specialized Dayscholar Integrated Program in Thiruvananthapuram. In this role, you will act as a vital bridge—helping students balance their regular school board curriculum with rigorous competitive exam preparation (NEET/JEE) while keeping them motivated, focused, and stress-free.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Tracking & Performance Analysis
- Progress Monitoring: Track daily student performance in Daily Practice Problems (DPPs) and Chapter-Wise Exams (CWEs) for both board and NEET/JEE formats.
- Identify Gaps: Spot trends where students might be falling behind (e.g., doing well in theory but struggling with MCQs) and step in early.
- Custom Support: Create and run weekly remedial sessions and targeted study plans for students who need extra help.
2. Curriculum Support & Study Planning
- Timeline Alignment: Stick to the campus schedule and master academic calendar provided by coordinators.
- Dual-Focus Help: Assist in delivering a balanced study plan that clarifies tough theoretical concepts for school boards while teaching quick MCQ shortcuts for competitive exams.
3. Batch Management & Personal Mentorship
- Holistic Coaching: Maintain mentor logs that track not just grades, but also behavioral and emotional factors unique to dayscholars (like travel fatigue and home study habits).
- Confidence Building: Conduct regular counseling sessions to help underperforming students rebuild confidence and set realistic goals.
- Daily Operations: Manage a batch of 35+ dayscholar students, ensuring a structured daily routine that includes:
- Evaluating DPPs and giving personalized feedback.
- Running dedicated, post-class doubt-clearing sessions.
- Keeping academic logs and exam scores updated in real-time.
- Campus Discipline: Manage student decorum during self-study hours, morning arrivals, and evening dismissals.
4. Parent Engagement & Admin Duties
- Parent Communication: Conduct bi-weekly updates with parents regarding performance, attendance, and mental well-being. Fluency in Malayalam is essential.
- Home Alignment: Guide parents on how to support the integrated curriculum and create a distraction-free study environment at home.
- Fee Coordination: Oversee fee-related reminders for your assigned batch and log collection updates into the portal.
5. Reporting & Task Management
- Micro-Tasking: Break down big academic goals into manageable daily tasks for students to tackle at school and home.
- Management Updates: Regularly report batch performance metrics to the Thiruvananthapuram regional management team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Subject Knowledge: Strong grasp of Class 11–12 Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology (Board + NEET/JEE levels).
- Data Savvy: Ability to read score trends and turn them into actionable, personalized study plans.
- Grading Versatility: Comfortable evaluating both long-form board answers and MCQ approach strategies.
- Batch Leadership: Proven ability to manage a classroom of 35+ students without losing individual focus or compromising on discipline.
- Communication: Excellent English (written/verbal) and high proficiency in Malayalam to handle sensitive parent conversations smoothly.
- Mindset: An empathetic, student-first mentor who is highly organized, resilient under tight schedules, and deeply committed to student welfare.
