The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the overall execution and operational management of all project sites. The role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards by effectively managing site teams, contractors, vendors, suppliers, labour resources, project schedules, interdepartmental coordination, and commercial follow-ups, including timely certification and collection of payments for work executed.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Operations Management
· Oversee day-to-day operations across all project sites.
· Ensure smooth execution of construction activities in accordance with project plans.
· Conduct regular site visits to monitor quality, safety, and productivity.
· Resolve operational issues to maintain uninterrupted project progress.
2. Vendor G Supplier Management
· Identify, evaluate, appoint, and manage vendors and material suppliers.
· Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms.
· Ensure timely procurement and availability of materials at site.
· Monitor vendor performance and maintain long-term business relationships.
3. Labour G Workforce Management
· Manage contractors, subcontractors, labour suppliers, and the site workforce.
· Ensure adequate manpower availability as per project requirements.
· Monitor labour productivity and optimize workforce allocation.
· Address labour-related issues and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
4. Payment G Commercial Coordination
· Verify and approve vendor, contractor, and labour bills.
· Coordinate with the Finance Department for timely processing of vendor and contractor payments.
· Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
· Ensure proper documentation for all commercial transactions.
· Coordinate with clients, consultants, and the commercial/accounts teams for certification of completed work.
· Ensure timely raising, submission, follow-up, and realization of running account (RA) bills, milestone payments, variation claims, and final bills.
· Monitor receivables and actively follow up to ensure periodic collection of payments for work completed, maintaining healthy project cash flow.
1. Planning G Scheduling
· Prepare and maintain detailed project schedules using Bar Charts, Gantt Charts, or similar planning tools.
· Develop weekly and monthly execution plans.
· Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure adherence to planned timelines.
· Monitor milestone achievements and update schedules regularly.
2. Progress Monitoring G Reporting
· Track daily, weekly, and monthly project progress.
· Prepare progress reports for management.
· Compare planned versus actual progress and recommend corrective measures.
· Conduct review meetings with project teams to monitor performance.
3. Delay Management
· Identify potential delays before they impact project completion.
· Analyze reasons for delays and prepare recovery plans.
· Coordinate with all stakeholders to accelerate pending activities.
· Maintain records of delay events and mitigation actions.
4. Management of Unforeseen Work
· Evaluate and manage scope changes, additional works, and unforeseen site conditions.
· Assess resource requirements and project impact.
· Coordinate approvals for variations and additional costs.
· Ensure minimal disruption to project schedules.
G. Coordination G Communication
· Coordinate with clients, consultants, architects, project managers, contractors, and internal departments.
· Ensure effective communication among all project stakeholders.
· Follow up with all internal departments, including Procurement, Finance, Commercial, HR, Design, Planning, and Administration, to ensure timely support and resolution of project-related matters.
· Track action items arising from coordination meetings and ensure timely closure by responsible departments.
· Lead regular operational review meetings.
10. Ǫuality, Safety G Compliance
· Ensure compliance with company quality standards and statutory regulations.
· Promote safe work practices across all project sites.
· Ensure implementation of quality control procedures and corrective actions where required.

· Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, B.Tech, M.Tech, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
· 10–15+ years of experience in construction/project operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
