Key Responsibilities Material Management & Production Support
- Transportation & Fleet Management
- Carrier Management: Vet, select, and negotiate competitive contract rates with freight forwarders, carriers, and 3PL providers.
Financials, Systems & Strategy
- Budget Oversight: Own the logistics department budget, proactively identifying cost-containment opportunities in freight and packaging.
- ERP/WMS Utilization: Serve as the power user for the company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- KPI Metrics Tracking: Generate and review performance dashboards focusing on On-Time In-Full (OTIF) deliveries, freight-to-revenue ratios, and lead times. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Team Leadership & Safety
- Staff Supervision: Lead, train, and coach warehouse operators, material handlers, and shipping clerks.
- Safety Protocols: Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, forklift safety regulations, and localized plant safety guidelines. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Required Skills & QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree: Required in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or Business Administration.
- Experience Level: Minimum of 5–8 years of logistics management experience specifically within a manufacturing or heavy industrial plant environment.
- System Knowledge: Proven hands-on proficiency with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and WMS platforms. [1, 2, 3]
