The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Procurement and Contract Officer to join our Governance and Commercial Services team.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Council's procurement and contract management activities, ensuring best practice procurement, strong governance and value for money across the organisation.
Reporting to the Coordinator Risk Management & Strategic Procurement, you'll play an integral role in delivering procurement and contract administration services across Council. You'll provide expert advice and support to internal stakeholders, while ensuring procurement activities comply with legislation, Council policies and best practice principles.
Working collaboratively across all departments, you'll help deliver procurement outcomes that support Council's strategic objectives and benefit our community.
Key Responsibilities
As Procurement and Contract Officer you will:
Coordinate end-to-end procurement and tender processes.
Administer Council's contract register, ensuring contract information is accurate and up to date.
Prepare procurement and tender documentation including RFQs, RFTs and contract documentation.
Coordinate tender advertising, evaluations and contract execution.
Provide procurement advice and guidance to Council employees.
Maintain procurement records and audit trails to ensure compliance.
Undertake contract administration activities including performance and credit checks, purchase orders and contract file management.
Prepare contract expiry notifications and annual contract commitments reporting.
Review procurement documentation and provide recommendations to improve procurement practices.
Support the development of procurement plans and initiatives that deliver value for money.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Demonstrated experience in procurement, tendering and contract administration.
Sound knowledge of procurement legislation, governance principles and best practice procurement.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Well-developed stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
The ability to build productive relationships across a diverse organisation.
Experience working with procurement systems and maintaining accurate contract records.
Relevant qualifications in procurement, commerce, business or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
