A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages. They develop personalized therapy plans, conduct oral motor exercises, and collaborate with families, teachers, and medical professionals to improve patient communication, feeding safety, and overall quality of life.
Core Responsibilities
- Assessments: Conduct formal evaluations and screenings to determine the nature and severity of communication or swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).
- Treatment Planning: Design and execute individualized therapy plans with specific, measurable short- and long-term goals.
- Therapy Delivery: Guide patients through exercises to improve articulation, language comprehension/expression, voice fluency, and swallowing strength.
- Collaboration: Work alongside multidisciplinary teams including doctors, psychologists, teachers, and occupational therapists.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, progress notes, and billing/service logs.
- Counseling: Educate patients and their families on coping strategies, exercises to practice at home, and new therapy techniques.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Typically requires a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders.
- Soft Skills: High levels of compassion, patience, active listening, and strong communication skills.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret diagnostic data and adjust therapy techniques when a patient is not progressing.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
