The Sober Habit is a better-for-you snacking brand manufactured by Goodgard Foods Private Limited, an FMCG manufacturing company based in Kolkata with operations extending to Jaipur. Our product portfolio spans Roasted Makhana, Flavoured Peanuts, Chana, Trail Mixes, Millet Snacks, Edamame Seeds, Cashews & Almonds, and Date Bites — with Protein Bars, Protein Laddus, and High-Protein Extruded Snacks launching by Diwali. Beyond our in-house brand, we also offer end-to-end manufacturing and white-labelling solutions — from concept and formulation to packaging and market launch — for other entrepreneurs and food brands.
We are looking for an NPD Executive/Manager with a strong background in FMCG snacks to lead the ideation, formulation, and development of new snack products — for both our in-house brand and white-label/private-label clients. The ideal candidate understands ingredient functionality, shelf-life, sensory profiling, cost engineering, and regulatory compliance in the packaged snacks category.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end NPD: concept generation, ingredient sourcing, recipe formulation, trial runs, and scale-up to commercial production
- Develop and refine snack products across categories such as roasted/flavoured nuts & seeds, millet-based snacks, protein bars/laddus, extruded snacks, and dried fruit/date-based products
- Conduct sensory evaluations, shelf-life studies, and iterative product trials based on feedback
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure formulations are scalable on factory equipment
- Manage costing and margin analysis for new formulations to ensure commercial viability
- Ensure all products meet FSSAI standards and support compliant label claims (protein content, "no added sugar," "baked not fried," etc.)
- Coordinate with packaging teams on format selection (pillow pouches, stand-up pouches, PET jars, composite cans) suited to each product
- Stay updated on snacking industry trends, competitor launches, and consumer preferences in the better-for-you space.
Requirement :-
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, or related field
- 2–6 years of hands-on NPD experience specifically within an FMCG snacks/food manufacturing company
- Strong knowledge of snack processing (roasting, extrusion, baking) and ingredient functionality
- Familiarity with FSSAI regulations and food labelling/claims requirements
- Good communication skills to liaise with clients, production, and leadership
- Prior experience managing a small NPD/R&D team
- Experience developing protein-based snacks (bars, laddus, extruded protein snacks)
