Job Summary
The Duty Medical Officer is responsible for providing continuous medical care to patients during assigned duty hours, handling emergencies, assisting consultants, and ensuring proper clinical documentation and patient management.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine, diagnose, and treat patients in OPD, IPD, and emergency settings
- Provide immediate medical care in emergencies and stabilize patients
- Monitor admitted patients and record daily progress notes
- Assist senior doctors and consultants during rounds and procedures
- Prescribe medications and ensure proper treatment protocols are followed
- Respond to medical emergencies and code situations promptly
- Coordinate with nursing staff and paramedical teams for patient care
- Maintain accurate medical records, case sheets, and discharge summaries
- Ensure infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies are followed
- Counsel patients and relatives regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis
- Perform night duties, weekend duties, and shift duties as assigned
