Description The Environmental Services (ENS) team at Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) is seeking a Senior Remediation Engineer to join our growing Remediation practice. In this role, you will be a critical part of a team dedicated to solving complex environmental challenges. You will contribute to projects aimed at cleaning up and restoring the environment by ensuring the quality of field data, assessing subsurface conditions, and developing effective remediation strategies for clientele within a variety of business sectors, including electrical utility, solid waste, mining, manufacturing, oil and gas, renewable energy, and others.
The individual will have the opportunity to take on project management responsibilities, tackling the most challenging environmental issues of today, leveraging cutting-edge technology applied in the remediation industry, including 3D visualization modeling, forensic studies and investigation, high resolution site characterization (HRSC), remediation systems engineering design, etc. Additionally, the ideal candidate will help grow our remediation team in India.
This position will provide technical support to our US teams. You will manage all aspects of environmental site assessment and remediation projects for USA-based sites from initial site assessments to hydrogeologic investigations, development of conceptual site models, contaminant fate and transport, remedial action design, and implementation. Experience with emerging contaminants of concern, including PFAS and experience investigating coal combustion residuals (CCR) is strongly preferred.
The successful candidate will develop and support multiple projects from a remediation and environmental engineering perspective, as well as manage and complete independent project tasks.
The Senior Engineer will perform the following duties:
- Experience of working in diverse global teams, functioning seamlessly with US-based project managers and regional offices.This includes a demonstrated history of collaborating with US-based project teams to complete project- and portfolio-specific tasks.
- Function as a technical lead for environmental remediation and engineering projects and lead a team of local engineers and scientists to complete complex tasks.
- Produce technical reports and design documents focused on remediation projects that are of high quality, free of errors, and fit for release to US-based clientele.
- Evaluate US regulations guiding remediation projects and developing strategic project approaches to provide cost-effective solutions to legacy contamination.
- Perform analysis and interpretation of environmental data.
- Mentoring and working closely with junior-level environmental staff.
- Assist with recruiting, development, and training of staff.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or related engineering program.
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience. Preferably 15 years of experience with civil and environmental-related engineering projects for a variety of clientele, including electrical utility, solid waste, manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, and public sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of US environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, state-specific codes) and design requirements.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience investigating and managing coal combustion residual (CCR) related projects for power generation clients strongly preferred.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet strict project deadlines.
- Drive collaborative efforts with US-based regional offices to deliver consistent, high-quality and appropriately scoped technical work.
- Experience directing and reviewing work products prepared by junior engineering staff.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information with project team members.
- Demonstrated knowledge of civil and environmental engineering methods, permitting process, and construction compliance.
- Ability to perform rigorous quality reviews for environmental reports and deliverables.
- Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
