Job Title: Assistant Purchase Officer (Construction)Role Overview:
An Assistant Purchase Officer in the construction sector assists in the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for construction projects. The role supports the Purchase or Procurement Manager and ensures that materials are sourced cost-effectively, meet quality standards, and are delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in sourcing and evaluating suppliers for construction materials (cement, steel, fixtures, etc.)
- Obtain and compare quotations from vendors.
- Co-ordinating delivery from shop to site.
- Processing purchase orders.
- Issue purchase orders and follow up on delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and project budgets.
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers.
- Track market trends and pricing for key construction inputs.
- Help in negotiating terms and conditions with vendors.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Procurement, Civil Engineering, or Business Administration).
- 1–3 years of experience in construction purchasing or procurement.
- Knowledge of construction materials and supply chain logistics.
- Good negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
