Qualification
- B.Sc Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution
- Valid Registration with State Nursing Council
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Job Summary
The Emergency Staff Nurse is responsible for providing immediate and efficient nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, assisting doctors in emergency procedures, and ensuring patient safety in accordance with hospital policies and **National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers standards.
Roles & Responsibilities1. Emergency Patient Care
- Provide immediate nursing care to patients admitted in the emergency department.
- Assess patient condition and assist in triage and prioritization of care.
- Monitor vital signs and patient condition continuously.
2. Emergency Procedures
- Assist doctors during emergency procedures such as resuscitation, suturing, wound dressing, and trauma care.
- Prepare emergency equipment and ensure readiness at all times.
3. Life Support & Critical Care
- Perform Basic Life Support (BLS) during emergencies.
- Assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other life-saving procedures.
- Support stabilization of critical patients before transfer to ICU or ward.
4. Medication Administration
- Administer emergency medications, injections, and IV fluids as prescribed.
- Ensure correct patient identification before medication administration.
5. Patient Monitoring
- Observe patient condition and report any deterioration to the doctor immediately.
- Maintain proper monitoring of trauma and critically ill patients.
6. Documentation
- Maintain accurate emergency case records, treatment sheets, and nursing notes.
- Ensure proper documentation for medico-legal cases (MLC) when required.
7. Infection Control
- Follow hospital infection control practices including hand hygiene and PPE usage.
- Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
8. Communication & Coordination
- Communicate effectively with doctors, nursing staff, and other departments.
- Provide clear information to patients and relatives regarding emergency procedures.
9. Equipment Management
- Ensure proper functioning of emergency equipment such as defibrillators, suction machines, monitors, and oxygen systems.
- Report any equipment malfunction immediately.
10. Compliance & Quality
- Follow hospital policies and **National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers guidelines.
- Participate in training programs, mock drills, and quality improvement activities.
